Discover the Lakes Basin

Paintings of the Lakes Basin

The Lakes Basin Recreation Area is a painter's dream with so many vistas to paint that the hardest part of an artist's day is to choose which one. Bring your paints, pastels, or sketchpad and sit by a mountain lake with the music of a stream to put you in the perfect mood to be creative!

Sitting by Helgramite Lake and sketching is a peaceful way to spend an afternoon in the sun.

Judy Feins

"I paint to celebrate the qualities of shifting light, long vistas of space that evoke possibility and freedom, and the brilliant tranquility of light on water"

Judy plein-air paints in oils and pastels when visiting the Lakes Basin. Silver Lake is her muse. One of her oil paintings is hanging in the Elwell Lakes Lodge's Dining Hall.
